about

Two Shetland fiddle tunes, the first composed by Ian Burns sometime mid-C20th: Spootiskerry was the name of his family’s farm, “spoot” being the Shetlandic term for a razor clam. Both tunes have great syncopation, Willa Fjord almost suggesting a Scandinavian rhumba or calypso. PH
